This is a vigraha of Saraswati - 16 feet tall, made out of marble
stone is perhaps the tallest Saraswathi idol. Standing idols of Saraswathi are
not common. Highlighting that Saraswathi is the Goddess of
'study/education', there are three students standing therein and studying.
Standing Saraswathi is not the only rare feature of this idol. This is
installed in the Indonesian Embassy in Washington by the Indonesian Govt -
depicting Indonesia's proud heritage. Though Indonesia is the largest
Muslim country and sends the highest number of pilgrims for Haj, they
follow many traditions followed by Hindus in India. School students who go
to School after bowing to Saraswathi, also do 'namaaz' five times a day.
Some of the best Ramaleela dramas are staged by Indonesian artistes. The
water mark on their currency note is Ganesha. Indonesian national airlines
is called Garuda. Kubera is considered as the God of wealth. Islam is
their religion and Hinduism seems to be their soul. 😊
